Two decades ago, Dr. Garewal embarked on a mission fueled by compassion and a drive for innovation. Witnessing the stark contrast in healthcare accessibility between rural and urban areas, he recognized the profound underservice and sought to make a difference. Understanding the hurdles faced by clinics in addressing these disparities, he envisioned the transformative potential of telehealth.
Telehealth has evolved significantly over the years in terms of quality, scope, and adaptability. Under the direction of Dr. Garewal, PMPI has been at the forefront with its innovation and pioneering efforts in telehealth and EMR to ensure that individuals, regardless of their location, can access top-tier, specialized care.
Dr. Garewal's legacy is one characterized by compassion, capability, and an unwavering dedication to transforming healthcare for all.
With a residency completed in 1997 at the University of Kansas Medical Center and a medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal, India, he brings a wealth of experience to his practice. Board certified in Psychiatry, Dr. Garewal has honed his expertise across various settings, including Private Practice, Outpatient County Mental Health, In-Patient Psychiatry, Telemedicine (since 2003), Correctional Medicine, and ECT.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Garewal has contributed significantly to academia and administration. As an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, he has shared his knowledge and mentored future generations of psychiatrists. He has also held leadership roles, serving as the former President of the Kern County Chapter of the Central California Psychiatric Society (CCPS) and Chair of the Membership Committee of CCPS. During his residency, Dr. Garewal distinguished himself as Chief Resident in Psychiatry, showcasing his leadership abilities and commitment to excellence.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Garewal enjoys spending quality time with his family and pet cat, golf, work on IT and tech projects, as well as pursuing new challenges and learning experiences.
